Are you preparing for the CSEC Mathematics exam?

Here's a quick guide to help you understand what the syllabus covers and how to study effectively.

🧮 Main Topics Covered

The CSEC Mathematics syllabus is divided into several key areas:

    • Algebra – equations, inequalities, factorization, and algebraic expressions
    • Geometry – angles, triangles, circles, and geometric reasoning
    • Measurement – perimeter, area, volume, time, and conversions
    • Statistics – data collection, graphs, mean, median, mode
    • Number Theory – operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios
    • Vectors and Matrices – basic operations and applications
    • Relations, Functions, and Graphs – linear and quadratic functions

📝 Exam Format

The exam is made up of three components:

    • Paper 1: 60 multiple choice questions (1 hour 30 minutes)
    • Paper 2: Structured questions (2 hours 30 minutes)
    • School-Based Assessment (SBA): A project done in school (for school candidates only)

✅ Study Tips

    • Master the formulas – especially for area, volume, and algebraic identities.
    • Practice past papers – this helps you get familiar with the question style.
    • Time yourself – simulate exam conditions to improve speed and accuracy.
    • Focus on weak areas – review topics you struggle with regularly.
    • Use diagrams – especially in geometry and measurement questions.
